Letter from grandaughter,Sade Carvell,said they lived on the West side of St.Johns. When the family all
left he went to board with his son George who lived in the N. end of the city and was a barber. She was
about 5 yrs. old when he died. She remembers seeing him on a couch when he was "laid out". Her
mother was very fond of him,he was os kind,but he died without a will and there was a lot of trouble
between the brothers,(her father John,uncle Shube and Uncle Jim etc. George got the house,boat shed
and a boat not completed and of course the lot in the cemetary. My father wanted to remove my
brothers body, but was told it was better left there because of the condition..

Sidney Clare was born September 1, 1858 in England as JOHN BELLspouse: Finical, Mary Ellen (*1859 - )
TOWERSON, he died September 9, 1941 in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He married
Elizabeth Hamilton in England. He left his wife and 3 children. They
never divorced. By the time he came to Fitzgerald, he had assumed the
name of Sidney Clare and married Mary Jane Finical.
He built a home in Fitzgerald called "Lynnwood" which burned
and was never rebuilt. They lived in a small house on the estate.
Sidney built a mauseleum on the property where he was buried. Mary Jane
had to lease some of the property and they tore down the mauseleum and
moved Sidney to Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. They had one son
Barry, and one daughter.
