On Sunday last his daughter, Mrs. Albert A. Smart, fell down stairs at her home, Wilkinsburg, PA., and fractured her spine. On Monday the family at West Saint John received a message acquainting them with the seriousness of the accident. Another message was received Wednesday that her condition was critical.
As the 1910 USA census shows Ella as never having children and she is 47 years old, I would say that the children listed in her father's obit are from Odber Heffer and Charles H. Heffer.
In her will Emma leaves her money to her friend Mrs. Clifford Sibson of Minto, Mrs. Sibson's son Gray and the Rev. Malcolm Murray MacLeod. She mentions NO brothers, sisters, neices or nephews.
Odber Heffer was my maternal great grandfather who travelled to Chile in the late 1800’s became a well known photographer. all his descendants now live in Australiaspouse: Unknown, V. (*1864 - )

Father Dies As Daughter Lies Seriously Hurt
Miss Emma Heffer Called Away as Her Father, Richard Heffer, Succumbs to Illness.
Sad circumstances surround the death of Richard Heffer, city constable, which occurred Wednesday night at his home, 265 Ludlow Street, West Saint John, at the age of eighty-three years. On Sunday last his daughter, Mrs. Albert A. Smart, fell down stairs at her home, Wilkinsburg, PA., and fractured her spine. On Monday the family at West Saint John received a message acquainting them with the seriousness of the accident. Another message was received Wednesday that her condition was critical. Her sister, Miss Emma, Heffer, left on the Boston train at 6:45 Wednesday night. She had not been gone two hours when her father passed away.
Mr. Heffer, who was a well known figure about the city, having been a constable for several years, leaves his wife, formerly Miss Elizabeth M. Bissett, daughter of the late Captain Thos. Bissett. They were married on May 18, 1854, and three years ago they celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Besides his wife, Mr. Heffer leaves two daughters - Mrs. Smart and Miss Emma; also one son, Odber W., of Cantiago, Chile; and three grandchildren. One of the grandsons is a lieutenant in the Imperail forces at the front, and another has joined the United States army. One brother, Henry Heffer, of Orange, NJ also survives.

The body of Walter L. HEFFER, driver C.P.R. who was killed in the accident at Rat Portage, Manitoba a few days ago, will arrive in St. John by this morn. train and will be buried from Mr. Barbour's residence, Brittain St., Saint Friday afternoon. The father of the deceased is in Nfld. and will be unable to be present. Mrs. Heffer, the bereaved widow and her child arrived from P.E.I. where she had been on a visit. last eve., accompanied by her brother, Conductor WATTS, I.C.R.
He was a career Navy guy and made it to Warrant Officer 2. He stayed in for 23 years. He had a lot of health problems. He had low blood pressure since I was 16 and would pass out often as of not having blood in his head. He later got Emphasema, Aspothosis, and Lung Cancer and died at age 76. He died on April 1, 1994. He worked as a stationary engineer both in and out of the service. For a while he was a house painter.
