one brother James and his wife Jean Purdy of Saint John, one nephew, two nieces, and several cousins, aunts, and one
uncle. Predeceased by his parents.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. His remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be
held at a later date and interment will be in the family lot at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have
been entrusted to “Fallsview funeral Home”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John (634-1701). Donations may be made to
either the Canadian Cancer Society or the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.
CARR, MURIEL H. - At her residence on Friday, 14 September 2001; Muriel Hamm (Purdy) Carr of the Kennebec Manore, wife of the late Earle A. Carr. Born in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late George W. and Bertha M. (Hamm) Purdy. Lived all her life in West Saint John and was a member of Carleton Kirk United Church. Muriel is survived by her brother Eldon of East Saint John, several nieces and nephews, Allan (Beaver) and his wife Jane of Quispamsis, Troy and his wife Monica of Naples, Florida, Allan Purdy of Nova Scotia, several grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, West Saint John (506-634-1710) from where the visitation will be held on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 18 September 2001 with time and place to be announced later. Many old friends on both sides of the harbor will read with regret of the death of Stephen L. Purdy of 257 St. George street, West End, which occurred yesterday morning. He was in his 82 year and had been active and well about to the last. Only a few days ago he walked at the funeral of a friend. Mr. Purdy was a member of St. Jude's Church and was much interested in the Oddfellows. For some years he had been chaplain of Golden Rule Lodge. Mr. Purdy is survived by his wife, three sons, Arthur H., George W. and Stephen C. all of West End; a sister, Mrs. Edwin Glasgow, twelve grand children and two great-grandchildren. Died - Thrown from a wagon on his return from Carleton. He lingered a few days in great suffering from an injury to the sping and died on Nov. 23, 1830 at the age of 20. He was engaged to Miss Mary Ann Theall, daughter of Tartules Theall of Carleton. She later married John Vaughan of Charleton.
In 1815 they vacated the cabin and and moved to a new house which Jesse built.Jesse and Sarah Quinton(Belyea)lived and raised their chilren here.Their son William built the Quinton homestead,that still stands on Manawogonish Road.My grandfather (James Robert Quinton Hall)inheirited the homestead from William A.Quinton.My grandfather ran the farm untill his death in 1959.My grandmother(Frances Hall(Ross) lived in the house untill her death in 1979.The house was passed on to my uncle untill his death in 1980.His wife and children lived there untill 1990,when she sold the property.We saved the house from destruction in 1990.We had it declared a hertitage home.spouse: Belyea, Sarah (1787 - 1850)
