Walter Coke Thompson, son of Hardy Thompson states that William was a son of William and Nancy Bacon Thompson. I think he was confused and I find no proof of this son existing. He is not mentioned in the probate records of William Thompson in Grayson Co., TX ... and all the children are named.
Walter C. Thompson states that William came to CA with the family but moved and lived in the Marysville area of CA and had family. Nothing has been found to prove this.

brogue and wit accompanied with his pipe made him a lot of friends. I
remember in the late 30's and 1940 he would pack the largest theatre on
Saturday night for a sing-song. This was in conjunction with the Kiwanis
where he was a life-long member.
He was an engineer on a ship. There was a Fred Thorne, engineer living at 74 High St. in 1896 and left in 1897. In 1896 Frederick Thorne engineer bds. 74 St. James St. and in 1901 John F.
