Walker worked at the Winter Park in the winter and on a wood boat on the Saint John River in the summer. He also hauled ashes and lime to the farmers around Grand Lake and would bring back a load of wood to sell in Saint John. In his later years a nerve went bad in the face that numbs into the brain. He had a lot of pain for this condition.

Mary's family came from Belfast, Ulster, where her forebears were reported (by AWS) to have been wealthy mill owners.
She was related in a collateral line to Benedict Arnold on her mother's side.
Her family may have been in New England during the Revolutionary War and emigrated to Canada as Independence developed.
Of 19 births, 13 were raised to adulthood.
