Blyther, William (*1801 - ) - male
William Blyther was an American lumberman who came to New Brunswick in 1815. He was probably a brother of Benjamin Blyther of Fredericton. William and Olivia and family were enumerated in Douglas parish in 1851. The parents were not enumerated in 1861, but several of their children still lived in Douglas. Mary Blyther was a servant in the household of Edward Hughes, Ruth Blyther resided with her sister Margaret and husband James D. Yerxa, and Allen Blyther was married and employed as a general labourer. William Blyther's omission from the 1861 census was probably an oversight. He was listed as a farmer and resident of Staples Settlement in 1865, and at the Mouth of Keswick in 1867. In 1871, William and Olivia Blyther resided in Fredericton with Thomas and Karelina Lacy.

He was Head of the Religion Dept. and professor of religion at Tift College, Forsyth, GA. until that institution closed. He then was pastor of the First Baptist Church, Barnesville, GA. While living in Forsyth, he probably supplied the pulpit and led prayer meeting more often than any other person who was not a Pastor of First Baptist Church......Monroe County, A History, p. 232. His wife, Nell Tyner Bowen, a native of Forsyth, GA has served as GA Woman's Missionary Union president from 1970-75 and has written for several WMU periodicals. She is the author of The Seeking Woman I Am, The Woman I AM and Making the Word Known.....Wester Recorder, April 16, 1985, II. She taught music and Sunday school and works with Acteens at the First Baptist church in Barnesville.
